Resettlement to Romania Resumes as Syrian Refugees Arrive from Turkey with IOM Support
Bucharest - Thirty-two Syrian refugees arrived safely in Bucharest after departing from Turkey part of Romania’s refugee resettlement programme. The group is formed mostly by families, including a 70-year-old couple and children as young as four years.
“My biggest wish, during these unfortunate times of uncertainty and chaos, is to be able to live in a peaceful environment, surrounded by my family”, as expressed by one of the refugees when she landed in Romania.

Vacancies with the International Justice Mission (IJM) in Bucharest
International Justice Mission (IJM) is launching its first anti-trafficking program in Central and Eastern Europe with a team based in Romania, focused on building partnerships and contributing to combatting human trafficking.
IJM is assessing multiple forms of human trafficking—including sex trafficking, online sexual exploitation of children and labor trafficking—in Romania and the region to provide support and develop programming that will complement and strengthen government and non-government anti-trafficking efforts.

General Inspectorate for Immigration, IOM and UNHCR sign new working arrangements for the Emergency Transit Centre in Timisoara
Today, June 5 2020, the document 'Working Arrangements for the Tripartite Agreement' was signed between the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs through the General Inspectorate for Immigration.

STARRT III - Information session on resettlement
A new information session was organized as part of the EURITA and STARRT III projects to help local authorities prepare to receive resettled refugees in Romania.
Key actors in integration gained a stronger understanding of the existing legal framework on resettlement, the role of local public authorities in meeting the needs of the newcomers and facilitating their integration process.
